Water softens the concrete slowly by slowly making it vulnerable to so many other degrading materials.
Cracking of the walls is as a result of the walls not having enough water during construction or sipping in of excess water during the winter. This must be addressed well during the building of the structures where proper ratios of the construction materials are used to make it air tight. Water proof substances should be added to the concrete to make sure that no water is allowed to sip in in times of winter and heavy rains.
Sprays have been made for spraying to the walls to make sure that all agents of erosion cannot affect the walls easily. The sprays ensure that water used during the mixing of the materials to make concrete are retained in the concrete so that it holds the materials tightly. The main work of the steel bars used in the building of concrete walls is to ensure that the strength is evenly distributed. The steel bars help in distributing the force applied all over the structure and made it evenly reinforced. Use of steel bars increase the durability of the concrete and hence a longer service for the concrete that has been constructed. Deicing salts are can destroy concrete if not well checked. Once they corrode the concrete they make it vulnerable to other agents like water to destroy the walls. Weakening of the walls makes the concrete vulnerable to some other degrading materials. it is possible to protect the walls from the various destructive ways in a number of ways. All the weak points in a wall or grounds constructed by using concrete are eliminated by use of the concrete overlay. The force of the concrete overlay is reinforced by the use of polymers. Protect The exterior and the interior of a building by use of cyclic sealers. It can be mixed with water and also oil for ease of application.
Water cannot penetrate in the walls where penetrating sealers have been applied. In areas where there is a lot of water in the atmosphere it is good to use this method. Use of chemicals is the widely known method of protecting concrete from various factors that could weaken it.
